There is a lot to enjoy in and around our hotel village. So much so that the hotel has founded its own activity club, in which our guests can enjoy exclusive discounts and an exciting programme. Just one of many bonuses is that you can travel on the Dachstein cable car at half price in summer. Valid between May and September from the first stay.
As a guest of Pichlmayrgut, depending on the weather-related opening times, you have free travel and free entry to the following businesses: The Reiteralm toll road, the Preunegg toll road to the Ursprungsalm and the Pichl bathing lake as well as the Stoderzinken Alpine road. Please pick up your free tickets at the reception before you start your excursion.
As a guest, you can use the following cable cars in summer at half price: Dachstein (reservation required), Planai (main cable car) and Preunegg-Jet Reiteralm. You can find out the exact conditions at the Pichlmayrgut reception.
As a guest at the Pichlmayrgut, you will be able to enjoy a carefully compiled activity programme, with or without trained and communicative mountain guides to help you. Find out more about the country, its people, flora and fauna on joint hikes.
Our youngest guests especially enjoy being active. The Steiner family comes up with new ideas every year to make sure that the holiday is a complete success, also for the little ones.
Winter sports
The white giants will be standing guard when you step outside with your skis in the morning. We recommend that you hurry off to the cable car and into the fun. Because the winter sun, which makes everything sparkle and shine, withdraws early in the evenings.
With 230 km of pistes, the Schladming-Dachstein region is a true paradise for skiers. Ultra-modern lifts will take you up in comfort, and you will then descend by yourself.
Our private ski bus will take you from the hotel village to the Reiteralm valley station and bring you back in no time. Our pick-up and delivery service operates several times a day, so that you can ski without worrying about the time and know that you won’t have to wait long for the bus when you want it.
Scenic panoramas will pass you on both sides as you leave your tracks in the snow. You can set your own pace, while the weather god sends you sunshine. There are a lot of rental shops in the area, in case you don't have your own skis with you.
You can do more than just ski. Winter in the Dachstein region has a lot of exciting experiences to offer. Snowshoe hiking, tobogganing, ice skating, or travelling wrapped in a warm blanket on a horse-drawn carriage will show you a whole new side to winter.
The glass panorama cable car will take you to the roof of Styria in just ten minutes. At a dizzying 2,700 m above sea level, you will be able to see as far as the neighbouring country. The Sky Walk, the Treppe ins Nichts (the "stairs to nowhere"), and the Ice Palace together promise an unforgettable experience on top of the spectacular view.
Schladming is famous for its events. From the legendary Night Race on the Planai to Ski Openings with top stars, there is always something going on here. Nighthawks turn night into day during après-ski or drop into the Pichlmayrgut's chic hotel bar.
Hiking
By the time the morning sun runs over the peaks and into the valley, hardly anyone can keep their feet still. The mountain is calling. It is calling you to hike, climb, marvel, and stop for refreshments.
Everyone loves to hike amid this scene of fragrant forests, lush green meadows, limestone grey walls and countless peaks. Each of the countless hiking trails will amaze you. Christian Steiner, the host, will be happy to accompany you personally and enliven your tour with interesting facts and stories.
The last few metres to the highest peaks are always steep and demanding. This will make your joy at reaching the summit all the more intense. The Schladming-Dachstein region is like El Dorado for climbers. But it is also a good place for beginners, children and young people to start off.
Anyone who goes out will want to stop for refreshments sooner or later. A lot of mountain farm houses welcome hikers and climbers with hospitality and culinary specialities.
A panorama with depth.
Many crystal clear lakes lie in the rugged mountain landscape, ranging in colour from a dark olive green to a turquoise hue. On windless days, the mountains are perfectly mirrored on their surface. Coming to a body of water is certainly a highlight of every hike.
Sporting activities
The region's mix of passable and impassable terrain is perfect for sporting activities. Enjoy nature as if in fast forward or, if you prefer, from a bird's eye perspective.
To be as free as a bird for once. A paraglider flight comes very close to our age-old dream of flying. Ambitious pilots fly from the snow-covered Dachstein mountain into the valley.
Fresh hoof prints in the ground often demonstrate how popular Ramsau is with riding enthusiasts. You will be able to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature to the full riding on a horse, a pony or a donkey, whichever suits you best.
Cyclists and mountain bikers find that their hearts beat faster in this region. And that is even before they even begin to pedal. Tours for mountain and e-bikes, a great variety of trails, children's attractions in the bike park, and much will all more ensure that no one's wish is left ungranted.
The Dachstein Tauern Golf & Country Club is a spacious 18-hole course nestled in an idyllic natural setting. On the driving range near the clubhouse you can take a little practice lesson in any weather. The Hotel Pichlmayrgut is in cooperation with all 4 golf clubs (GC Radstadt, GCC Dachstein-Tauern, GCC Schloss Pichlarn, GLC Ennstal). As a guest you can enjoy a 20% reduction on the daily green fee.
Excellent water quality, a spacious sunbathing lawn with tree-shaded areas and a children's area with bouncy castle make the Pichler Badesee a hotspot for sun worshippers. In both summer and winter, the Dachsteinbad welcomes swimmers to the centre for well-being and health, which opened in 2019.

The summit measures 2,700 metres above sea level. Up here you can enjoy the impressive panorama on various viewing plateaus and marvel at sculptures in the Ice Palace. The Sky Walk and the Stairway to Nowhere make the glacier the perfect experience for the whole family.
Hopsi has been in Schladming since the 1982 World Cup. Today, the mascot is still as popular as ever. In Hopsiland, Styria's most elevated playground, fun play stations are waiting to be tried out to your heart's content. After the fun, hungry families can fortify themselves in one of the huts.
You can change the setting within just an hour. From "In the mountains" to "In the midst of culture, shopping, and the city of Mozart". The Steiner family and their team at the Pichlmayrgut will be happy to discuss what you might particularly enjoy in Salzburg.
The Middle Ages are long gone? You bet it's not! Anyone who wants to can take a journey back in time to the world of knights, damsels, battlements and cold dungeons. At the adventure castles of Hohenwerfen and Mauterndorf you can spend a day in the times of our ancestors.
Even children know: Valuable treasures are recovered in a mine. In the Salzkammergut it glitters and sparkles underground, too. Even today, salt is mined here. But the salt mines in Hallein, Hallstatt and Altaussee are only for visitors. Those who venture into the tunnels can experience fascinating things like an old salt lake, a chapel in the mountain, and much more.
Wild waters rush roaring and thundering down the valley. A wildly romantic natural spectacle that you can watch protected from secure footbridges. The Wörschachklamm and Talbachklamm gorges are particularly impressive representatives of this powerful spectacle.
